Alicia Berkemeyer named executive vice president and Chief Health Management Officer for Arkansas Blue Cross
Little Rock, Ark. (January 19, 2021) — Alicia Berkemeyer has been promoted to the position of executive vice president and chief health management officer for Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
Berkemeyer previously served as senior vice president for Provider Network Services. In her new role, she will have executive responsibility for quality and accreditation, pharmacy and primary care programs, provider network innovation and strategy, medical management, population health and provider reimbursement.
Berkemeyer began her career at Arkansas Blue Cross in 1989 in the Claims division and has risen through the ranks, serving in a succession of roles in the customer service, group marketing, individual sales (Medicare), pharmacy operations and provider networks and programs areas. In recent years, she has been instrumental in bringing several progressive multi-payer value-focused programs to the Arkansas market, including the Arkansas Health Care Payment Improvement Initiative (AHCPII) and Episodes of Care program, the Comprehensive Primary Care (CPC) and Comprehensive Primary Care Plus (CPC+) initiatives and the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) program.
Berkemeyer holds a bachelor’s degree in organizational management from John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. She also has completed advanced executive education from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management in Evanston, Illinois.
