Non-grandfathered plans

Plans purchased after March 24, 2010, but before October 2013

Because your plan was purchased after the Affordable Care Act passed, but before the Health Insurance Marketplace opened and Metallic plans became available, you have what we at Arkansas Blue Cross call a "non-grandfathered plan." For now, that means that you can keep your plan.

Option 1: Keep your current plan

If you're happy with your plan exactly as it is and are okay with the rate changes, you can keep your plan. No further action is needed; you will be automatically re-enrolled.

Coverage will renew Jan. 1.

Option 2: Make changes to your current plan

If you want to make changes (such as changing your deductible or adding or deleting a family member), you will need to submit a Change Form.

Change forms must be received by (not just postmarked) Dec. 15.

Approved changes will be effective in January.

Option 3: Check for more affordable plans or financial assistance

If you want to see if more affordable plans are available or if you will qualify for financial assistance through the Health Insurance Marketplace, you can start shopping on November 1 when the Marketplace Open Enrollment Period begins.

  • Nov. 1 – Jan. 15 Health Insurance Marketplace Open Enrollment Period for Health Insurance Plans
  • For coverage to begin Jan. 1, you must enroll by Dec. 15.
